halloween bake sale

I'm so glad I was able to squeeze in some quick Halloween cookies for a United Way Bake Sale fundraiser at work . . . hopefully this will make Halloween baking next week a little faster!

fall baseball

When I got the coach’s email reminding us that last night was the last Fall Ball game of the season, I knew I had to find a way to schedule in some quick cookie baking!  These mini’s were just a little way to celebrate the end of such a fun fall baseball season.  This team had the best families (especially younger siblings for my two little ones) and boys which made spending extra weekend nights at the baseball fields so much more fun for all of us!

After I took this picture, I realized my attempt at organizing with this blog has worked!!!!  On Wednesday morning, I checked out this baseball post to see what kind of cookies would be quick and easy since the game was two days away!

I loved the mini-sized baseballs I made this summer for the Angels and just got this new set of cookie cutters, so I at least had a plan!  Just wasn’t sure if I had enough time . . .

And late, late Thursday night icing . . .

Mini-sized cookies dry so much faster, so by the time the base coats were dry I was ready to add the details.  And with only 4 colors, I didn’t leave too much of a disaster in the kitchen either!

Some quick bagging and bows on Friday morning (admittedly with the help of our wonderful nanny on this one!  I didn’t get up early enough and since my job is what supports this fun hobby, I went to work instead of bagging cookies).  Now I just need to work on taking better cookies pics!

a lego birthday party (January 2013)

After 6 years of super fun "Joint Birthday Parties" and "Birthday Week" it's hard to remember exactly how devastated I was when I found out baby #2 had a due date on the same day as Ben’s birthday!  And how relieved I was when he waited just one more day and decided to come on the day after Ben's 2nd birthday!  Last years birthday party was even more fun because they both wanted the exact same theme . . . what every 5-7 year old boy loves – LEGOS!  In fact, now that we're approaching a 7 and 9 year old birthday party this January, they are both suggesting a LEGO party repeat!

A handmade Lego banner I spent hours making with my new Cameo Silhouette . . . a least there is a chance for a repeat use with all the boys in this house!  Here's a link to a great collection of Lego themed fonts for download.

When you realize the night before the party that you really don’t have a plan yet for the birthday cakes!?!?!?  You get really creative and put the kids to work on their own cakes   Smile  Ironically, these might have been their favorite birthday cakes yet.  They were so proud of their creations and thrilled they got to eat the whole cake by themselves.

And cupcakes for the rest of the kids . . .

Our homemade Lego pinata . . . not sure what made me think this was a good idea!  Sometimes PINTEREST really does more harm than good :)  It seemed so simple, but for some reason took FOREVER!
  • Diaper Box
  • Red Streamers
  • Ribbon
  • Red Solo Cups
  • Lego Logo Printouts
  • LOTS of CANDY!

Thank goodness it worked!  There was at least a 50% chance it was never going to open    Smile

frozen themed birthday cookies

When I found out our friend’s daughter was having a Frozen birthday party this weekend, it seemed like the perfect chance to make “practice" Frozen/Olaf/snowflake cookies that I am hoping to make for my nephew’s birthday in December.  But after the fun pink girly cookies I made a few weeks ago I skipped the snowmen and couldn't resist trying an Elsa dress instead!  If my sister is reading this, I promise to add snowflakes and switch out a snowman for the sparkly dress when I make them for Jackson!

The blue is Electric Blue (160) and varying amounts of white to make the two different shades of blue.
